Janet Damita Jo Jackson (ur. 16 maja 1966 w Gary w stanie Indiana) - wokalistka amerykańska, kompozytorka, autorka tekstów, producentka nagrań, aktorka, tancerka. Jako piosenkarka zadebiutowała wraz z zespołem złożonym z niej i jej braci : The Jackson Five. Jako aktorka zaczęła karierę od sitcomu realizowanego dla CBS TV: Good Times . Następnie wystąpiła w Different Strokes i Fame. Jest siostrą Micheala Jacksona.

Dwa pierwsze albumy solowe Janet Jackson (1982) i drugi Dream Street (1984) nie wzbudziły zainteresowania, przełom spowodował album Control.
